What Times Are These? Understanding The Times We Find Ourselves

UNDENIABLE SIGNS OF THE END TIMES

What times are these in which we have found ourselves? How close are we to the end of the world? Is it reasonable to even begin to believe that there will be an end to the world as we know it today? How will it come about?

These are the sort of the sort of questions that arose when the super-action movie “2012” zoomed in on the wide screens. Many people worldwide became curious about the end of the world. It is pertinent to bear in mind though that there are different theories about the end times. Although these differences exist, Jesus Christ had Himself laid down solid teachings about this topic when His disciples once asked Him about it.

And what exactly did Jesus teach and say regarding the end times?

Undeniable signs of the end times

Jesus' disciples, on one occasion, had admired the Temple buildings as they left the Temple, but Jesus replied, “Do you see these buildings? They will certainly be torn down! Not one stone will be left in place.” (Matthew 24:2). His disciples must have been stunned and disturbed because, later on, they came to him in private, as He sat on the Mount of Olives, to ask, “When will this happen? What will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the world?” (Matthew 24:2).

We will therefore look at the end time signs that Jesus taught them that day (Matthew 24:5-14). We will then see how accurately this can relate to the present times in which we have found ourselves today. [note that from verses 15 to the end, more signs are described, however, we will concern ourselves with the signs in verses 5-14).

1). Many will come and claim to be me. They will say that they are the Messiah, and they will fool many people (verse 5).

2). You will soon hear about wars and threats of wars, but don’t be afraid. These things will have to happen first, but that isn’t the end (verse 6).

3). Nations and kingdoms will go to war against each other (verse 7a).

4). People will starve to death, and in some places there will be earthquakes. But this is just the beginning of troubles. (verse 7b-8)

5). You will be arrested, punished, and even killed. Because of me, you will be hated by people of all nations (verse 9). Because of Jesus, His disciples will be hated. Note that this will happen in EVERY nation.

6). Many will give up and will betray and hate each other (verse 10). Many so-called believers will give up and do despicable things against fellow Christian brethren. Note that this will include pastors against laity, and vice-versa.

7). Many false prophets will come and fool a lot of people (verse 11).

8). Evil will spread and cause many people to stop loving others (v. 12).

9). If you keep on being faithful right to the end, you will be saved (v.13).

10). When the good news about the kingdom has been preached all over the world and told to all nations, the end will come (v.14).

WHAT WE NEED TO BEAR IN MIND
The wickedness in the world must continue to rise and get worse. The end of the world is a sure and undeniable truth. And the second coming of Jesus to take us all home is an immutable and undisputable fact. We must not despair at these words. Throughout God's Word are the warnings of future events. He never fails to Warn the people about what’s coming. And as always, the events occur, and those who heeded the warning are always saved in one way or another.

These prophecies are definitely not given to strike fear into any of us, but have been given for us to be forewarned about the ferociousness with which the Kingdom of darkness will attack the world as the time nears for God to bring us back to Himself in glorious splendour at the coming of Jesus Christ. And true indeed, Satan and his workers are now attacking ferociously to reduce, as much as possible, the number of those who remain faithful to God to the very end. And thus the number to be saved.

These prophecies have come because God loves His people and do not want anyone falling into the enemy's trap. So therefore, cheer up! Trust Him. He is almost at the door!
