Think on These Things to Embrace What is Good

EMBRACE GOOD THROUGH YOUR THOUGHTS

In these end times, our ears are filled with much bad report that one may erroneously be led to believe there are very few, if any good, remaining in this world. On the contrary, this world, though absolutely wicked in its system, has got lots of good in it.

We may be bombarded daily with 'evil' news on the telly, on the radio, in the print and even via the internet. Yet the world still has a lot of good.

Our world is not so written off as many are led to suppose. God created it and is ruling it, so the world sure does have many good things to offer us. And the Lord is able to make it so. Why do I say so?

Elijah's experince - an example from the Bible

Consider this case in Elijah's time:
"And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?
And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
And the Lord said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria: And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room. And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay. Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him." - 1 Kings 19:13-18 (KJV)
Even in the midst of the wickedness of those times, God had seven thousand in Israel who had persisted in faithfulness to him, none of whose knees had bowed to Baal, nor their mouth kissed him as was the 'normal' custom of those wicked days.

This is still how it is today. God does not change! Despite all the evil wickedness with which we are bombarded daily, this same God who never changes is able to keep many people and enable them to fear Him. Consider it a privilege - grace and mercy from God - if you are one of those that fear Him in these end days.

How we must think

Scripture exhorts us to think on what is good, pleasant and noble. Why? Because there are so many good, pleasant and noble things in this world to think about! If there weren't, the Scripture would not exhort us thus:
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." - Phil 4:8 (KJV)
This scripture is literally admonishing us to fix our minds on things that have the qualities that are enumerated above - any and all things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, of good virtue, and of praise.

Girl with a Book by José Ferraz de Almeida Júnior (1850–1899) - Scripture exhorts us to think on what is good, pleasant and noble. Why? Because there are so many good, pleasant and noble things in this world to think about!
Thinking: Our thoughts are so important (credit)

What we dwell on as the day progresses has a way of becoming part of us. So if we dwell on these kind of thoughts at all times, we would always radiate these, and be embracing good.

What you expect as you wake up in the morning has a tremendous impact on you that day. If you expect good things, you will experience it at different times and situations all through the day. Even when you face bad stuff, since you are expecting God’s goodness, you will be able to overcome the bad.

Important lessons

Do not let anyone or anything steal the joy in your heart. As we awake in the mornings to spend our quiet time before the LORD, we are usually fortified with "an unspeakable joy" that even we, ourselves, are unable to explain to someone else. This is the joy of the LORD - the joy that comes with spending quality time alone with Him. Do not let anyone steal it!

Embrace what is good. See the good side of people. Enjoy your work. See goodness in your present state. When busy, it’s easy to lose sight of the good things in life and give in to stress and pressure. Find time to relax and enjoy good stuff. The Scripture notes that during the time of creation, time and again, God enjoyed all that He created.

Enjoying what is good is a decision that you and only you must make daily. It is your act of praising God for all that He created. It is also your act of thanking God for His goodness.

BIBLE VERSE FOR MEDITATION
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:2)

Thou wilt keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]: because he trusteth in thee (Isaiah 26:3).

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it [are] the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23).
