END OF THE WORLD? I DON'T THINK SO
Earlier this year, I wrote an article on The End of the World. Over the past few weeks on Twitter, #EndoftheWorld had become one of the most popular hash tags. The news networks were agog with it, but it was CBSNews.com's article that caught my eye. The news title read, "Mayan calendar ends; world doesn't." This marked the end to a long wait by some who had expected the world to come to an 'inglorious' destruction last Friday i.e December 21st, 2012.
It still beats my imagination that so many people, including professed Christians, actually and really expected the end of the world despite clear gospel passages to the contrary on this topic. It is very clear that noone, not even the Lord Jesus Himself knows the exact hour when this event would happen. The Bible teaches that only God the Father knows.
If Scripture teaches that none knows when the end of the world would be, then truly truly no one knows. Every other information to the contrary is false, misleading and from the evil one.
Indeed, we have witnessed a very significant rise in the number of rumors of wars and wars itself over the past few decades. In addition, natural tragedies in the form of famines, pestilences (of which HIV/AIDS is the most recent and easily remembered), and earthquakes have arisen in that period.
Now, please carefully note how the Lord answers the concerns of His disciples in Matt 24: 35-39 (KJV): Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
You see that all the fear and trepidation of the world's end was absolutely unnecessary. Now come to think of it? Are we really meant to be afraid of the end of the world? Definitely NO! Why? Of course, because that will signify the redemption of all believers'.
At all times, let us remember that the Master Himself will come upon us "like a thief in the night", without us expecting Him and not when the whole world lies in expectation.

End of the world?
I didn't for one minute take anyone serious who professed to know the time of the world's coming to an end. It was comical the way the CBS news network goes on to report that: "Dec. 21 started out as the prophetic day some had believed would usher in the fiery end of the world. By Friday afternoon, it had become more comic than cosmic. The doomsayers who had predicted apocalypse were nowhere to be seen. Instead, people showed up in T-shirts reading "The End of the World: I Was There."It still beats my imagination that so many people, including professed Christians, actually and really expected the end of the world despite clear gospel passages to the contrary on this topic. Superiority of Biblical prophecy and teachings
This event is one example of the superiority of Bible teaching and prophecy over that from any other source. Believe it or not, it is a clear addition to the number of proofs of the authenticity and truthfulness of God's Word; reminding us all of the Lord Jesus' verdict that Scripture "cannot be broken."If Scripture teaches that none knows when the end of the world would be, then truly truly no one knows. The End of the World: When Will It Be?
In answer to the question by his disciples, of when the end of the world will be; the Lord Jesus had answered very loud and clear in Matt 24: 3-8 that noone knew. Let us recall that event once again: And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. What should be our attitude?
Since the end of the world signifies the redemption of all believers in Christ Jesus, let us instead of trepidation and fear, rejoice when they say it is time for the Lord to come; instead of fearfully digging into facts to confirm or refute the validity of the Mayan prophecy, let us joyfully share the truths of Christ's coming with our neighbours.At all times, let us remember that the Master Himself will come upon us "like a thief in the night", without us expecting Him and not when the whole world lies in expectation.
