Six Steps to Godly and True Success in All You Do

FOLLOW THESE FOR TRUE GODLY SUCCESS

"A man’s mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure" - Prov. 16:9 (Amplified Bible). Surely, the wise King Solomon could not have said anything but the truth when these words from him were written down. Success, that is true and godly, surely begins in a man's mind.

To some, this may sound ludicrous as they ask, how can godly success begin in a man's mind? Does man even have that capacity? Is the product of his mind not continually wicked? Will every plan of his mind not be geared towards ungodly and wicked gains and successes?

I too struggled with these questions for years because I doubted how man, with a heart that tends to drift away from godliness, could come up with any plan that could both pass the test of godliness and lead to sure success at the same time.

The truth, my friend, is that TRUE GODLY SUCCESS in everything we do begins in our mind, as a plan of man. Having first of all received Christ, and determined within us to follow Him always, God begins to continually work in us to bring our heart to love and do His Will always (Philippians 2:13; Hebrews 13:21; Ephesians 3:20). We may fall once in awhile, but our hearts will continue to yearn to love and obey Him (Ezekiel 36:26).

Praise God for His mighty plans for our never-ending success! To Him be all praise and all glory forever and ever.

Over the years, I have tested several times, and have come to realize that for any plan to succeed, some 'basic ingredients' must be present. These simple, yet so powerful, ingredients are shared with you, dear reader, below to richly bless you and those around you.

The 6 steps to godly and sure success in life

1) Have a specific goal.

Know exactly what you want. You must be as specific as possible. For example, let's say you want to be successful in your career. So what exactly would this mean? First, to what exact level of success do you aspire? Second, when exactly do you plan to realistically reach that level? Being as specific as possible helps you move towards your goal. Successful people plan and design the details of what they want in life. Only when we know what we want specifically, are we then able to focus our energy and talents.

2) Plan a strategy.

This step is the hardest one when we refer about acquirements and experience that a person already has. There are many varieties of strategies that we can adopt, that go to the simplest to the most complex. Maybe you’ll work more hours, work harder, increase or decrease or stop habits that distract you, invest on studies and professional development and so on. It’s all your choice.

3) Take consistent action.

Taking action is what that separates the dreamers from the doers. That’s why many highly educated people often ended up working for successful entrepreneurs. Now you know why there are times when you see people who are less intelligent or talented than you achieving more than you, it’s because they tend to take more action. Our emotional state drives us into action. We may hold back due to emotions like uncertainty, anxiety and fear. Opposite emotions like motivation and enthusiasm gets us going and make things happen. And as the Lord's redeemed, we should believe His ever-present help and get going always.

4) Failure as Feedback.

If you take action there are two possibilities: failure or success. But will every one of us experience failure? Yes, we will! You don’t have to be a genius to see that the more action you take, the more likely you’ll experience failure. The great news is that successful people tend to achieve more because they take more action; and unsuccessful people tend to give up easily. The difference between the two groups is how they react and deal with failure. The response to failure makes a huge difference. There are 3 major behaviors with failure:
  • Give excuses, blame and give up;
  • Keep taking the same action again and again, and give up after some time.
  • Get feedback, change strategy and take action until you succeed. Never giving up.
Of course the last behavior is what we are searching for. Every time when we can’t get what we want, we get a learning experience. We can use this feedback to improve on our strategy and take action again. Taking action we never lose anything, because we can achieve success or we’ll learn a lesson.

5) Good belief system.

Without a right belief in place, we can’t take any step towards godly success. Our belief system determines what we want, where we want to be and what action we take when we don’t get what we want. Do you backbite just because your competitor succeeded where you failed? Do you pay back evil for evil, or good for evil? (Romans 12:17-21; 1 Peter 3:9). If you limit your belief system with negative and ungodly thoughts it’s unlikely that you’ll be setting inspiring god-fearing goals. The downside is this makes you give up rather than changing your strategy to take action again from a new perspective. Always remember that He who lives is in you is greater than anything or anyone out there in the world (1 John 4:4).

6) Values.

All of us rank values like freedom, success, love and happiness in a different way. The way we rank values affects how we decide, what we want and how to get where we want. In all situations, we must bear in mind that our values as Christians derive from the Scripture. Although it is very important that our values are aligned with our goals to achieve sure success, it is also necessary to ensure these values are godly. Your values must be aligned with your goals. Most people never achieve success because their values and goals are not aligned.

In summary...

To summarize, I have here borrowed a pictorial representation of a step by step scheme I saw on Hubpages in order to drive home what has been discussed on this page. The scheme below is of what is needed to achieve success. Putting these into practice will surely make your deepest dreams come true, and in a godly way.

BIBLE VERSE TO REMEMBER (KJV)
1). But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for [it is] he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as [it is] this day (Deuteronomy 8:18)

2). The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it (Proverbs 10:22)

3). But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:33)
