The Bible is the bestselling book of all time. And this obvious fact is not in any dispute. Since it became possible, billions of copies of this bestselling classic have been printed or downloaded, and read. It is a God-inspired classic and every word of it is true.
From start to finish, the Bible is filled with many wonderful promises of God. More than that, every situation that you have encountered or will ever meet in your live, there is an answer, a solution or strategy by which you can overcome. Testimonies abound as to how the living powerful Word of God, has uplifted lives and turned into a guiding lamp for so many. Truly, God's Word is alive and powerful (Hebrews 4:12):
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Now, the Bible contains over 31,000 verses, and many of them would easily apply to the career path you have chosen in life. However, if I were constrained to choose only three verses (I would guess this would be for ease of remembrance) for you to apply to your career they would be the following:
“The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”
God created us, the work we do, and the world in which we perform it.
He ordained us to engage with his creation, and to take an active role in the use and development of His created order. We are designed to be active, productive, and creative. The Garden of Eden was never a place of idleness.
God still owns it all and we take care of it on His behalf. We guard, watch over, and manage the things God sends our way. We serve God with our daily labors while remaining obedient to Him.
Your everyday work is a high calling from God. Even Jesus Christ, God Incarnate, picked-up tools and made things. He worked as an example for you to follow.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Trials are inevitable. They are part of living and working in our fallen world. But, you will never face your trials alone. God promises to work good out of all things and this includes every trial you will ever experience.
You may not foresee how any good can possibly come from a particular job situation, but God guarantees He can bring good from it – somehow, somewhere, sometime.
This guarantee from God only applies to those who love him and that is you, the Christian. Your love for God is the fruit of your salvation in Jesus Christ.
You have been called according to his purpose, and He is sovereign over every aspect of your career, the good and the bad. God is always for you and never against you.
“Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
How do you know if you are successful in life if you don’t know the purpose of your life?
Success in the workplace is meaningful and important. But, what about success across the full spectrum of life including family, friends, and community – your well-being, values, and relationship with God? Is someone still successful if they are excelling at work yet failing God and others? What’s the standard?
God defines what is or is not a successful way to live your life, and this is what He is telling us in this verse: “whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
The truly successful person knows God, obeys God, and glorifies Him in every realm of life. Work hard, put in the hours, and achieve success in your career, but in the process don’t turn your back on God, others, or the rest of His creation.

To the person who please him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God (Ecclesiastes 2:26; NIV)
